CIVITY

Civity is a family of modular low-floor trains designed for regional and commuter services. The modular nature of the trains allows them to be precisely adapted to meet the individual needs of each customer.

Both exterior and interior arrangement are tailored to customer specific requirements. Furthermore, unit configurations can be changed quickly and simply by adding or removing intermediate cars.

Civity trains comply with current TSIs and the most demanding EN standards.

Low-floor train

Civity is a low-floor train, allowing it to be easily accessed from any European platform. As the main equipment is located on the roof, out of the train interior, the low floor zone extends along the almost the whole length of the train. Floor height can be 600 mm or 800 mm. In some cases this height can be customised to customer requirements.

Flexibility and on-board comfort

Based on its all-purpose modular nature, Civity can be specifically designed to meet the needs of each operating company, based on the type of service to be provided to its users. These trains can be fitted with special zones for people with reduced mobility, luggage racks, bicycle storage zones, cafeteria, vending machines, areas for children, among other options.

BATTERY AND HYDROGEN SOLUTIONS

Over the last few years, CAF has concentrated on developing sustainable alternatives to diesel trains and eliminating emissions on non-electrified routes. Battery-powered trains have been added to hydrogen models to provide an emission-free alternative for these routes.

Civity units, fitted with batteries (Battery Electric Multiple Unit, BEMU), provide for services on non-electrified lines, eliminating the use of fossil fuels and thereby preventing the emission of fumes.

Diesel trains will gradually be replaced by trains which can draw their power from hydrogen, battery-based, hybrid (pantograph and battery) and bimodal (catenary and hydrogen) solutions. Besides eradicating emissions, these new trains obviate the high costs associated with line electrification, and on-board comfort benefits from quieter vehicles.
