Urbos

Accessibility

The versatility of Urbos is accompanied by CAF's commitment to maximum accessibility.

Urbos offers the best passenger access conditions to be found in tram vehicles. The tram has been designed for ease-of-access by persons with various degrees of disability.

The Urbos bogie system allows the Urbos to be a 100% low-floor tram. The floor is 350 mm above the track along the entire train length, including the door access area, preventing tripping hazards.

Some measures adopted to this regard include:

  • Shorter gap between the platform and the tram.
  • The inclusion of hand grips on the inside of the trams on the door ends to facilitate boarding and alighting for persons with reduced mobility.
  • Audio alarms and pilot lights to indicate the closure of the track doors.
  • Audible signals: individual audible signals to locate the enabled doors and intercom and T mode PA system
  • Colour identification to clearly signal train access doors.

Being modular in design, there are many different seat lay-out possibilities, so as to adapt to the different capacity requirements. In this case, the customer can decide to enable areas for the location of PRM with the specific functionality of the nearest doors.
