METRO HELSINKI

CAF signed a contract to supply new metro units to HLK, the operator of the Helsinki metro system in 2012. These new trains will run on the Metro West line as well as on the possible extension of Metro West from Matinkyla to Kivenlahti.

The purchase is part of the automation project of the metro system lines. At its onset, the trains will be temporarily equipped with one cab, required in the transition stage to the automation of the traffic control metro system. Upon completion of the automation process, the cab will be dismantled with this space being converted for passenger use.

The design of these trains will be similar to that of series M200, both on the outside and the interior items. This is a completely accessible train, with a high transport capacity and ample space, providing passengers with a sense of more space and comfort.
