LUXEMBOURG TRAM

CAF is to supply the vehicles of the first tram line in the city of Luxembourg. Specifically, this contract provides for the supply of 21 vehicles for Luxtram. These trams are based on the Urbos platform and offer high transport capacity comprising 7 modules each.

Units are 100% low floor all along for ease of boarding and egress of any type of passenger and effortless walking along the vehicle.

In addition, the new trams boast Greentech Freedrive technology developed by CAF Power and Automation. This is an on-board system that accumulates energy for catenary-free running. This project includes the removal of the overhead line from the Red Bridge to Luxembourg’s Central Station for catenary-free running.
