CAF will supply the new trams for GVB Activa B.V., the public transport company in Amsterdam. These new vehicles are based on the Urbos range and consist of 5 modules each. The tram is 100% low floor all along the vehicle making boarding and deboarding all the more easier as doors are at the same height as platforms.
Furthermore, these bidirectional units have two multipurpose areas and automatic ramps on access doors for maximum passenger accessibility. The scrutiny of the tram interior design reveals comfortable seating and state-of-the-art passenger information systems. Large glazing and obstruction-free aisles all across the tram provide a feeling of airy spaciousness and great visibility and light ingress.
The Amsterdam urban network is 200 km long and currently consists of 16 lines with 490 stations in total.
