Awarding of the contract to supply units for the Santiago de Chile Metro
The Santiago de Chile Metro notified the company Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles CAF of the procurement of 12 trains, each with 9 cars (108 cars), for a total of 144 million US$.
This is in addition to the twenty 9 car trains already supplied by CAF which were awarded in 2007 and which are currently running on the San Pablo – Los Dominicos Line 1.
It should be pointed out that these trains shall be fitted with state of the art technology and that they will be the first trains in the entire Metro Santiago fleet fitted with air conditioning, with the resulting improvement for passengers using this means of transport.
