Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles S A(CAF), is awarded 15 trains for Brussels Metro amounting to 121.2 million euros.
The Borrad of Director of Sociedad de Transportes Intercomunales de Bruselas(STIB) , decided on this awarding. These trains will provide service to line 2 on the network, once the construction work is completed.
The contract includes the supply of the ordered six car trains, i.e. a total of ninety, as well as the option to enter into other maintenance and stockpiling contracts for additional trains.
CAF commits to supply this order in July, 2006. Sociedad de Transportes de Bruselas performs its activities in 19 regions of Bruselas and another ten surrounding areas, providing services to 3.1 million inhabitants.
