CAF’s decisive commitment to R+D has lead to the development of a wide range of state-of-the-art high speed trains, fitted with avante-garde technological advances regarding design, safety and comfort. The company has played a major role in supplying the Spanish High-Speed Train (AVE) for the Madrid-Seville and Madrid-Barcelona lines. CAF has also taken part in the production of RENFE Shuttle Service Trains, which run at 250/270 Km/h on intermediate sections of the same line. As a more significant example of technological competence in this market, CAF designs, develops and produces 250 Km/h Self-Propelled Variable Gauge Trains with BRAVA trucks. In 2005, with the supply of 12 units for Turkish Railways, they became the first Spanish company to export high speed technology. Procurement of new advances in this filed has progressed with CAF leading CENIT research projects. This iniciative has focused on developing the technology required to design rolling stock operating at speeds in excess of 300 kilometres per hour. With this learning and the provision of their own technology, CAF provides the market with inovative High Speed solutions. A new family of trains whcih converts the railway into a means of transport particularly indicated for medium to long distances which is comfortable, safe and environmentally friendly. |
