Type of vehicle:
Articulated electrical Unit consisting of two cars (A-B), with an articulated join between each other, resting on two motor trucks, at their ends, and one carrying truck, in the join of both cars. Track gauge of 1,588 mm.
Bogies:
Conventional design bogies with welded steel plate frame and bolster. The carbody-truck link is accomplished by means of a simple bearing on the end truck and a double bearing in the central truck to permit turning of carbody sections relative to each other in the articulation area. Rubber-steel primary suspension and secondary pneumatic suspension and transversal dampers. The axle-boxes are made up of a circular shaped aluminium body that houses the cartridge type bearings, where two lateral arms come out to support the primary suspension.
The end trucks have two cross mounted motors. The motors and the gear units are completely suspended from the frame, making the transmission to the rolling axle via a hollow shaft coupling.
The braking system in the end truck comprises the appropriate rigging and discs mounted on each gear unit. In the centre truck, there is a press-fitted disk on each axle, with the rigging supported on the truck frame. All the trucks have electromagnetic rail brakes for emergency braking.
