In 2013, CAF signed a contract with Compañía Paulista de Trenes Metropolitanos (CPTM) for the supply of 35 new commuter trains. These trains consist of 8 cars each and feature unobstructed gangways along the entire train so passengers can easily move inside.
These new units will provide service on the various lines operated by CPTM across the 22 municipalities in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo carrying in excess of 2.6 million passengers per day.
The trains are produced at CAF's plant in Hortolandia, in the state of Sao Paulo. Deliveries began in 2016.
