UTRECHT TRAM

CAF is the supplier of the new trams for the new Uithoflijn line connecting the central station of Utrecht with Science Park De Uithof. This is an Urbos tram, bidirectional, comprising a version of 5 modules and another of 7 modules, both of which are prepared to run at a speed of 70 km/h. The two versions can be coupled together, which would make the unit the longest urban tram in Europe, with a capacity of more than 600 passengers.

The unit is 100% low-floor for ease of boarding and egress of any type of user and passengers walking along the tram. In addition, the unit provides the best passenger accessibility conditions available today and it has 2 areas for wheelchairs.

Both versions of the tram are examples of energy efficiency; they use regenerative braking and LED lighting and are prepared for the installation of the Greentech Freedrive system which, in addition to recovering energy, allows catenary-less operation.
