The consortium made up by CAF and Alston has won the contest for the making of 20 suttle trains for the Madrid-Barcelona AVE line. The new train will be an advanced version of the Alaris, in an investment that amounts to about 38,000 million pesetas.
This award provides for a 50% of the new trains´ maintenance work and the 20% of production to be carried out by RENFE. Every single train will be made up of four coaches and will be able to reach a maximum speed of 270 Km/h.
The offer awarde to the CAF-Alstom consortium is based on an advanced version of the Alaris model, which is currently running from Madrid to Valencia.
These AVE regional trains, also known as Shuttle, will make similar trips to the ones already existing, with the same name, between Madrid and Ciudad real and Puertollano, as well as between Cordova and Seville.
