FIRST QUARTER 2015 - FINANCIAL STATEMENT

The Backlog at 31 March 2015 amounts to € 5,370.2 M, which is a new record for CAF, 14.22% up on the Backlog at the end of the 1st quarter of the previous year. This figure does not include the contract recently signed for the supply of 8 high speed Oaris units for Flytoget in Norway, for € 118 M.

 

CONSOLIDATED GROUP PERFORMANCE 

 

The Net Turnover at 31 March 2015 is € 306,619 thousand, i.e. € 69.169 thousand (18.4%) less than in March 2014, a drop resulting from less industrial activity for scheduling reasons. Also, the export share of the total turnover reached 84.4%.

 

The EBITDA Margin at 31 March 2015 was € 44.521 thousand against € 41.943 thousand for the same period in 2014, i.e. a 6.2% increase.

 

The Company’s profit for the year, prior to Company Taxation, at 31 March 2015, amounted to € 20,096 thousand, i.e. 21.7% down on the same period in 2014. This figure includes a greater expense of € 6,374 thousand compared to the quarter the year before as a result of changes, essentially the result of the devaluation of the Brazilian real against the euro. Also, the figure for the previous period included income of € 4,367 thousand for the sale of the shareholding of the concessionaire company of the Seville metro.

 

Net Profit for the Year after Corporate Tax, at 31 March 2015 amounted to € 14,082 thousand, i.e. a 27.6% drop in profit compared to the same quarter in 2014.

 

CAF's noteworthy projects currently underway include the supply of suburban units for São Paulo and Belo Horizonte (in Brazil), Trieste (Italy), Auckland (New Zealand), trains for Amtrak in the United States of America, as well as for Holland, Italy, Mexico and Saudi Arabia; LRVs for the cities of  Malaga, Granada, Stockholm, Houston, Cincinnati, Kansas, Boston, Birmingham, Fribourg, Tallinn, Budapest and Kaohsiung in Taiwan; and Metro Units for cities such as Rome, Bucharest, São Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Istanbul and Helsinki.

 

In addition we must add the latest contracts the Company has entered into in the first months of this year, such as for the supply of LRVs for the cities of Saint Etienne and Utrecht, cars for the Caledonian Sleeper in Scotland, the signalling contract for the AVE Monforte del Cid - Murcia line, as well as the most recent contract for the supply of High Speed units for Norway.
