Trains

Creating sustainable cities

Light rail systems are becoming increasingly important in cities worldwide. They offer an alternative that helps reduce traffic congestion, providing a fast, punctual, and sustainable mode of transportation.

Our Urbos tram family meets the highest standards in eco-design and accessibility, integrating seamlessly into the environment while maintaining a high level of performance. Cutting-edge design and technology give each city its own identity.

At CAF, we have developed an innovative mobility concept called Greentech, which enables light vehicles to operate without overhead wires.

Urbos

Urbos is the family of low-floor trams and light rail vehicles that reflects our commitment to sustainable mobility and energy efficiency. They bring each city its own unique identity thanks to their cutting-edge design and flexibility.

Urbos trams meet the highest standards in eco-design and accessibility to offer a unique travel experience

An Urbos for every city

With more than 1,900 Urbos trams operating in over 50 cities worldwide, our experience in supplying trams, light metros, and tram-trains is recognised globally.

Models

URBOS 100 / 100x

The Urbos 100, with its 100% low-floor design, ensures easy access for all passengers, with no steps or obstacles. The Urbos 100X model has a 100% low-floor design that includes axles.

Urbos AXL

Urbos AXL trams feature bogies that allow free rotation of the running gear relative to the car body, enabling better curve negotiation and increasing the maximum service speed.

Urbos 70

The central passenger area of the Urbos 70, which spans 70% of its length, has a low-floor design and doors located in this section.

Accessibility

Designed for everyone

Urbos is designed to facilitate access for people with different levels of disability. Its floor is 100% low, and the optimised bogie system means platform height is minimal, reducing the gap between the platforms and the tram to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers.

Onboard confort

The 100% low-floor Urbos tram is at the same height as the platform. Wide doors and spacious, step-free corridors allow passengers to move comfortably throughout.

Urbos features lightweight, modular seats and air conditioning systems for maximum comfort, and is equipped with WiFi service, interior TFT monitors, and/or LED screens to display passenger information.

Urbos is flexible

The Urbos family offers a modular solution that adapts to the needs of each city and type of operation.

Flexible configurationFrom 3 to 9 car units

Variable widthSuitable for all types of urban environments

DrivingIncludes unidirectional and bidirectional trams to adapt to each infrastructure

Customised interior designIt features versatile modules for seating areas, reserved sections for PRMs (Persons with Reduced Mobility), and areas for strollers, bicycles, and luggage

FREEDRIVE

Urbos without overhead wires

Our Greentech Freedrive technology has been used to create an onboard energy storage system (OESS).

This innovative technology enables trams to operate without overhead wires in cities, either partially on certain sections or entirely with charging points at stops. Eliminating electrification significantly reduces the infrastructure costs of the lines and avoids visual impact.
