METRO MADRID S/3000 SINGLE VOLTAGE AND DUAL VOLTAGE UNITS

In 2004, Metro Madrid awarded CAF the contract to supply 90 metro units. In total, 36 single voltage and 54 dual voltage trains were produced. The single voltage units consist of 6 cars whilst the dual voltage units consits of 4. Both types of train in the 3000 series permit circulation incide the entire train with access for persons with reduced mobility.

Deliveries were made between 2006 and 2008. Subsequently, in 2008 15 new trains were awarded with a narrow gauge (68 cars).

All the new units will be fitted with state of the art safety and comfort systems, and will be produced with new fire and smoke resistant materials, also applying the most advanced digital technology in control, video - information, entertainment and communications systems.
