REGIONAL CIVITY TRAIN FOR THE OPERATOR SJ AB

CAF is the supplier of the new regional trains for Swedish state-owned operator SJ.

The trains consist of 5 cars and include the option of running with up to 3 coupled units, thereby providing the operator with a high passenger capacity of around 1,000 seats. Besides easy access and flexibility for all types of passengers, the units are intended for both regional and interregional services.

These units are part of the Civity Nordic platform, running at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. They are designed to provide maximum user comfort, incorporating specific solutions to meet Sweden's demanding weather conditions. 

The new trains will be used to modernise and upgrade the current SJ regional fleet which consists of double-decker X40 trains and the old locomotive-towed passenger cars.

The new units will provide fast connections between the most densely populated regions of Sweden and smaller, remote towns with medium to high stopping frequencies.
