SEATTLE TRAM

In 2017, the Seattle Department of Transport (SDOT) awarded CAF with the supply of new streetcars. Specifically, these new units are part of CAF's Urbos tramway platform and each consist of 3 modules.

The vehicle is 100% low floor and all passenger traffic barriers have been removed, with the added benefit that passenger boarding and alighting from / to platforms at a similar level to sidewalks is extremely comfortable.

In addition, these new streetcars will be equipped with a CAF Power&Automation-supplied Onboard Energy Storage System allowing them to run catenary-free.

The new units will provide service on a new line which will be added to the present South Lake Union and First Hill Streetcar lines to create new North-South connections across the Seattle city-center. With over 3.2 million inhabitants residing in the greater metropolitan area, this City is developing a modern streetcar system that will provide new urban mobility options for its citizens.
