In the last few days, Solaris has entered into contracts to supply a total of 115 electric buses, which will serve the Polish cities of Krakow, Poznan, Lublin, and the Romanian city of Craiova. This further consolidates the Company’s position as one of the European market leaders in electric buses, with a current order book of almost 1,000 emission-free vehicles for 18 different countries.

MPK KRAKOW SELECTS SOLARIS YET AGAIN TO SUPPLY 50 ELECTRIC BUSES

The operator responsible for public transport in Krakow, Miejskie Przedsie?biorstwo Komunikacyjne S.A. (MPK), has executed a contract to purchase 50 Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses. These buses will expand its current fleet of 400 different models of Solaris vehicles, which already include 28 other electric vehicles that were delivered previously. The contract also includes the supply of 50 plug-in charging devices, amounting to a total contract value of approximately €36 million. Deliveries of vehicles are scheduled to start within one year of contract signing.

The articulated buses design will be adapted for two charging modes; either using a 4-pole pantograph mounted on the vehicle roof, or a plug-in charger, with the energy stored in high- density Solaris High Energy+ batteries.

The new buses will provide service on four bus lines that cross the "Avenidas de los Tres Bardos", one of the city's main thoroughfares and one of the areas most affected by air pollution. Boasting a capacity for 141 passengers, 43 of which will be seated, the Krakow buses will be fitted with a camera surveillance system, a complete passenger information system, air conditioning, USB charging ports and an electric heating system. They will also be fitted with platforms to facilitate wheelchair access.

The purchase of these 50 buses for Krakow forms a part of the list of projects selected to be funded by the European Union, as a result of which MPK will receive a subsidy of approximately €24 million to fund this investment.

POZNAN PURCHASES 37 SOLARIS ELECTRIC BUSES FOR THE CITY'S VEHICLE FLEET

This new contract comprises the supply of 37 Urbino electric buses, 31 of which are 12 metres long, and the remaining 6 articulated vehicles are 18 metres long. The contract amount is in excess of €20 million.

Poznan? residents are already familiar with Solaris' electric buses, as 21 of these vehicles were delivered just a few months ago. These new emission-free vehicles will operate on lines running through densely populated urban districts, resulting in cleaner air and a better quality of life.

The 37 vehicles will be equipped with Solaris High Power batteries, designed for quick charging. These will be charged during the day by means of the rapid pantographs located at the Os. Sobieskiego y Os. Garbary.

The buses will be monitored by a system of interior and exterior cameras, and for passenger convenience, they will be fitted with a complete passenger information system comprising destination signs, interior screens, a PA system and displays for additional information provided by the operator. Also, these will be entirely low-floor vehicles with an area allocated for wheelchairs and another for bicycles. They will also be equipped with USB charging ports.

LUBLIN ALSO COMMITS TO ELECTRIC VEHICLES

The Polish city of Lublin has once more shown its unwavering commitment towards providing the city with a fleet to offer emission-free urban transport. The agreement that Solaris and the city's public transport operator concluded a few days ago comprises the supply of twelve Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses, which will be delivered between November 2021 and April 2022. The contract also includes the supply of seven charging stations and after-sales services.

This collaboration between the City of Lublin and Solaris dates back to 1996, as Lublin was one of the first Polish cities where Solaris supplied buses. It should also be pointed out that at the end of last year, ZTM concluded another contract for the supply of 15 articulated trolleybuses and 20 electric buses. This is proof of how this operator is investing in both emission-free vehicles and continuous development of the municipal transport infrastructure.

CRAIOVA, IN ROMANIA, TO RECEIVE 16 SOLARIS ELECTRIC BUSES

This is the first time an investment in buses of this type has been made by the Romanian city, so Solaris will also be responsible for supplying the necessary charging infrastructure, and therefore, in addition to supplying the city with the 16 electric Urbino 18 e-buses the Company will also supply twenty charging devices. The contract has a value of approximately €12 million, most of which will be covered by European funds.

The Solaris buses will include access to WiFi and USB charging ports where travellers can charge their mobile phones. The vehicles will also include a passenger information system and a surveillance system comprising seven cameras to improve travelling safety and comfort. A passenger counting system is also installed at the vehicle access points.

Consequently, Craiova became the second Romanian city - after Cluj-Napoca -where Solaris previously supplied 41 units - to decide on electric buses manufactured by the CAF Group subsidiary.
