REGIONAL TRAIN CIVITY WEST MIDLANDS

CAF entered into a contract with West Midlands Train Limited and Corelink in 2017 for the supply and maintenance of Civity regional trains. The contract specifically consists in the supply of 26 diesel units comprising of 2- and 4-car trains.

The new fleet is aimed at addressing the increasing number of passengers on the lines connecting towns and municipalities in the Birmingham region. The new Civity units will improve passenger service conditions, providing air conditioning, free WiFi and standard power sockets on all vehicles.

West Midlands Trains Ltd. is comprised of Abellio, Japan East Railway Company, and Mitsui & Co Ltd, for the West Midlands franchise. This project forms an integral part of the most ambitious rail modernisation scheme implemented in the United Kingdom in recent years.
