The new trams for the Parramatta tram system in New South Wales are part of the CAF Urbos range. These are 7-module units providing the operator extensive transport capacity.
Units are 100% low-floor model for easier passenger boarding and alighting and moving inside the tram. Units are also equipped with the Greentech Freedrive technology equipped with lithium batteries so that they can run catenary-free along some sections of the line.
CAF is part of the Great River City Rail Light consortium, made up of CAF Rail Australia and Transdev Australasia. Aside from the rolling stock, CAF provides the line systems and their integration, which includes traction system, substations, signalling system and the control and communications centre.
